I love to read! Over the years I have read a lot of books, and I plan on reading many more as time goes on. I would like to share my reading experiences with whoever decides to check out this blog.
In the past (as in more than three months ago), I was in the "old-school" group. I am referring to the group of people who decry the advent of the e-reader. "It will be the end of bound publications!" "Can't we have just one thing in life that isn't techno-centered!" I had heard and said it all. One night, a friend showed me her Kindle, and explained all the features that it has. Even though the Kindle had been out for a couple years, I had never really looked at one. After the introduction, I decided that maybe the e-reader was the way to go. Now the questions was, which one should I get. The Kindle seemed nice, and it was backed by a popular, legitimate bookstore. After a little research, I found out that the Kindle does not support loans from my public library. After a little more research, I discovered that the Nook does allow loans from my library. In addition to that bonus, the Nook is also backed by a popular, legitimate bookstore. Now the question was, which Nook do I want? There were three options: the original Nook, the Nook Color, and the new Nook Simple-Touch Reader. Since I am a new convert to the e-reader, I still wanted my reading experience to be similar to looking at a bound book. This narrowed my choice to the original Nook and the Simple-Touch. Both have E-ink technology, which is perfect for reading. It looks just like the printing in a bound book. Of the two, I chose the Simple-Touch.
I've had my Nook since just after Father's Day, and I love it. I still get bound books from the library, since there are still many books that the library doesn't have digital copies of. I also love the fact that as my personal library grows, the entire contents will always be portable.
I just finished reading The Strain, by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, and hope to get a review up soon. I am currently reading Before I Go To Sleep, by S.J. Watson. I am about 100 pages into it, and it is a very gripping story. I should have this book done in a couple days, and will give you my opinions then.
I invite everyone to give me recommendations for future reads. I am always looking for the next great book to read, and am open to almost any genre. I will also try to put up a list of my past reads. I will not be doing any reviews of anything I've read before starting this blog, but I will answer anyone's questions regarding them.
Hopefully this whole blogging experience will be as fun and informative for you as it should be for me!
